  • If you are a non-member, please consider contributing to the meeting cost.
  • Meeting sponsors help to cover the cost of the event which includes facilities costs and food service costs. In some cases, speakers fees or expenses are part of the meeting cost.

Nicholas (Nick) Woo

Topic: This talk will introduce fundamental AI concepts to help DAMA members understand where AI fits in with data management; Common AI terminology, how AI works, and the potential risks of building and using AI in our organizations.  The focus will be on understanding the fundamentals of AI, and the requirements Data Management leaders should consider when working with business stakeholders and vendors on new AI solutions.

About: Nick Woo is the Senior Director of Growth & Customer Success at AlignAI. His professional data work spans aerospace, automotive, insurance, consumer-packaged goods, and nonprofits, earning Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification during his time at Ohio State. Nick started his career in systems engineering, statistics, and organizational psychology; working in organizations like Boeing and Honda in setting up early data analytics functions before shifting into product and data transformation leadership roles. He provides workshops for data science, engineering, management & analytics teams to help advance their AI capabilities and volunteers with Franklin County Children's Services.

Anindita Mahapatra

Topic: In today’s tech landscape, the impact of AI has been transformative, as software not only shapes but revolutionizes entire industries. Join us for an engaging talk that delves into the evolution from traditional software to the current AI paradigm, where “Software eats the world, and AI eats software.” We’ll explore how AI has emerged as a driving force, particularly with the advent of Generative AI, which harnesses massive data, computation resources, and open-source innovation to power groundbreaking Deep Learning models

About: Anindita is a Solutions Architect focused on the data and analytics space. She has over 20 years of experience in software development, consulting, and client-facing roles helping organizations make the most of their data investments. She’s also the author of the book Simplifying Data Engineering and Analytics with Delta: Create analytics-ready data that fuels artificial intelligence and business intelligence. She has a Masters degree in Computer Science from Boston University, a Masters degree in Liberal Arts and Management from Harvard Extension School, and has co-authored 2 patents. Also, she teaches a graduate course on Data Engineering at the Harvard Extension School.
